We have been involved with various communication projects, both in the name of P2 and through our work for the ELCI. Below you can find a brief introduction to some of them.

Að vænta vonar – Advent calendar 2010

Að vænta vonar is the Church of Iceland Advent Calendar in 2010. It consists of 24 short videos that were released during Advent 2010 as the Church of Iceland Advent Calendar. One video a day was released from December 1st to 24th. Each video carried a message of hope. The videos were made available on the ELCI web site and on YouTube, sharing was encouraged. Read more in a blog post from December: Voices from local community bring messages of hope.

LWF Eleventh Assembly

The Lutheran World Federation held its 11th Assembly in Stuttgart in July 2010. Árni participated in the assembly as co-opted staff for the Office for Communication Services and was assigned the role of English Video Editor. Videos made during the assembly can be found on the LWF YouTube channel.

One Church – One Marriage Law

Gender neutral marriage law was instituted by the Icelandic government in 2010. P2 instigated a social media campaign around the issue, giving voice and face to the message of an open, inclusive church.  On the project’s website, various articles and statements were collected, as well as short videos of pastors voicing their solidarity with gays and lesbians in the church.  ELCI’s theological committee as well as the general synod, approved of a single act of marriage, following the legislation change.
